Through her journey, Jenifer López shares valuable lessons on the challenges she has faced, her contributions to Internet Governance, and advice for future generations.

What inspired you to pursue domain management and Internet governance in Panama?

My interest in domain management and Internet governance in Panama stemmed from my belief that connectivity and access to information are key to societal development. Panama has great potential to become a hub of innovation and connectivity in the region. I am motivated by the opportunity to contribute to making digital policies more inclusive and secure.

What do you consider your greatest contribution to the digital ecosystem in Latin America?

In my role at NIC-Panama, I have worked to strengthen Internet infrastructure and governance in Panama, promoting a safer and more accessible digital environment. I have also encouraged the country’s active participation in international forums, ensuring that our policies align with global best practices.

What challenges have you faced as a woman in leadership roles within this field?

One of the main challenges has been the need to constantly prove my capabilities in a male-dominated sector. However, these challenges have motivated me to create more inclusive spaces and serve as a role model for other women interested in this field.

How do you think we can encourage greater female participation in Internet governance and technology?

It is essential to promote early education in technology, provide mentorship, and increase the visibility of women in key roles. Organizations must implement inclusive policies to ensure gender equity in the sector.

What message would you give to young women interested in entering the digital world?

Do not be afraid to dream big and follow your passions. Technology and digital governance need diverse voices, and your participation can make a difference in building a more equitable future.
